world wide knit in public day
world wide knit in public day
Sunday, 15 June 2008
Popped down to the city square on Saturday to sample some delish cakes from Brunetti’s and spend some time at the Melbourne World Wide Knit in Public Day. It is always a source of surprise to me just how many people are interested in knitting and crochet but either don’t know someone who can teach them or don’t quite have the courage to give it a go.
WWKIP is all about raising the profile of knitting so that people might be tempted to give it a try. It was freezing yesterday though, and as hard as I tried, I just couldn’t knit up a jumper in time to make a difference. Thanks to Madeleine (foreverknit on Ravelry) for organising the day. I had a great time and I am sure we impressed passers by with our extreme knitting skills!!!!
See the next entry though for what happened during our session!
